Man strips naked as fuel attendants refused to sell in kegs

Image
A young Nigerian who was prevented from buying fuel in a keg stripped naked in protest in public. An apparently frustrated man caused quite a scene at a filling station in Lagos State as he did the unthinkable by stripping himself naked in protest as the attendants refused to sell to people carrying jerry cans. According to eyewitnesses, the man identified as an artisan, told everyone that cared to listen that he would rather die than go away without fuel as the  present hardship  in the country occasioned by  fuel scarcity , incessant electricity blackout and the economic turn down has caused his family to suffer untold hardship as he has not been able to fend for them. The young man had reportedly waited patiently in a very long queue only for the announcement to come that fuel will not be sold in kegs and he went into an overdrive and stripped naked in protest. Even a team of policemen filling station could not stop the man as he screamed at the top of his voice and

'Dentist of horror' Jacobus van Nierop jailed in France

Image
A Dutchman dubbed the "dentist of horror" has been sentenced to eight years in jail in France for mutilating the mouths of some 120 patients. Jacobus van Nierop, 51, "took pleasure" in causing horrific injuries to patients in the small central town of Chateau-Chinon, prosecutors said. He was banned from practising dentistry and fined €10,500 (£8,140; $11,900). Van Nierop fled to Canada when suspicions arose and strongly fought extradition to France in 2014. The court in the central French town of Nevers heard that patients had suffered broken jaws, recurrent abscesses and septicaemia from van Nierop's work. He had drugged patients then mutilated them as they slept in his dentist's chair. Prosecutor Lucile Jaillon-Bru said van Nierop had carried out "useless and painful procedures". She said his aim had been to earn money through claiming on patients' medical insurance schemes and to take "pleasure at causing pain".

Fans ‘unlawfully killed’ in Hillsborough disaster – Jury

Image
The 96 Liverpool fans who died in Britain’s 1989 Hillsborough football stadium disaster were unlawfully killed, a jury found on Tuesday following the longest-running inquest in English legal history. After hearing more than two years of evidence, the jury also concluded that the behaviour of Liverpool supporters on the day did not cause or contribute to Britain’s worst sports stadium tragedy. The jury also found that there were errors in police planning for the match and on the day of the match which caused or contributed to the dangerous situation. Relatives of the victims have fought a long campaign to get to the heart of what happened during the disaster. Some emerged from the courtroom hugging and in tears. The jury has been sitting since March 2014 in a purpose-built courtroom in Warrington, northwest England, 15 miles (25 kilometres) outside Liverpool. The disaster occurred on April 15, 1989 during an FA Cup semi-final between Liverpool and Nottingham Forest

He added that when the RRS policemen appeared at the scene, Kampo took to his heels. The source said, “The RRS operatives actually acted on reliable information that some miscreants were removing the bridge’s rails. “When Ibrahim was arrested and questioned on how he came about the rails, he said Kampo contacted him to come and pack the rails for him. “Based on that, the patrol team arrested him. The court convicted them of “debauchery and incitement to debauchery”, the charges generally used to prosecute alleged homosexuals in Egypt as the law does not formally prohibit same-sex relations. Late on Sunday, it sentenced three of them to 12 years, three to nine years, one to six years and four to three years. Egypt’s use of the debauchery law to prosecute and jail gay men has drawn condemnation from human rights groups.

In a statement by his Chief Press Secretary, Odubu said: “As a devout Catholic, I will not do anything that is unbecoming of a true Christian in the name of politics.
