‘I warned Nigerians not to vote an old President,’ Fayose says

Image
Fayose made the comment via a statement released on Tuesday, April 12, 2016, by his media aide, Lere Olayinka. Ekiti State Governor ,  Ayo Fayose  has said that the controversy surrounding the 2016 budget shows that President  Muhammadu Buhari  is too old to rule Nigeria. “Nigerians should expect more blunders like this until they send Buhari back to Daura in 2019. I warned Nigerians of the consequences of electing an octogenarian as president and with the international embarrassment that this budget crisis has become, I have been vindicated. “It is obvious that there is total disconnection between the President and his cabinet members as many of the ministers don’t even have access to him probably because the President spend most of his time resting as a result of his old age.  “The reality is that the President is challenged by age, exposure and ability. He did not read the budget proposal that he presented to the National Assembly and this should be a lesson for tho

Incoming Man-U coach, Jose Mourinho draws up transfer wish-list

Image
Jose Mourinho has already made transfer plans for Manchester United, according to reports. The 53-year-old Portuguese has been hotly tipped to succeed Louis van Gaal at Old Trafford this summer, and he is understood to have drawn up a list of potential transfer targets. Van Gaal's position at United has come under threat following a string of disappointing performances and results. Mourinho – his one-time assistant – remains confident he will replace the Dutchman over the coming months. It was recently reported that Van Gaal, who joined the club in 2014, feels he will remain in charge of United beyond the end of the current campaign. But according to ESPN, that perception is centred on the internal politics of the Premier League club, who have not shared their long-term plans with the coach. Members of the United hierarchy remain reluctant to appoint Mourinho due to his combative reputation, but his representatives have reportedly held extensive talks with the club about

Pepe insists Cristiano Ronaldo is ‘light years’ ahead of every other player

Image
One can only assume that Pepe has forgotten about the existence of Lionel Messi - and possibly Luis Suarez and Neymar too, for that matter - after telling reporters that his Real Madrid teammate, Cristiano Ronaldo, is “light years” ahead of anyone else. The Portuguese centre-back believes Ronaldo, 31, is the world’s best player - despite the fact he was beaten to the 2015 Ballon d’Or by Messi in January. Ronaldo has scored 43 goals in 41 matches this season, but his overall influence in matches wasn’t what it was compared to a few years ago. Not that Pepe would agree with that assessment. "People like Cristiano are unique, they are people blessed by God," he said in an interview with the Portuguese Football Federation, per  Goal . "He was blessed by God and knew he would become one of the best in the history of football. "Cristiano is the best and is light years ahead of anyone else. He's a quiet person, a hard-worker and honest."

US 'killed Al-Qaeda's second-in-command by accident'

CIA did not know that Nasser al-Wuhayshi was one of three jihadists a drone strike was about to hit The United States killed al-Qaeda’s second-in-command by accident, reports in Washington have said. In comparison with the years of meticulous planning and analysis of intelligence which led to the killing of Osama Bin Laden in Pakistan in 2011, the CIA had no idea that Nasser al-Wuhayshi, the head of Yemen’s branch of  al-Qaeda  was among those a targeted strike was about to kill. The revelation, in the Washington Post, gives an explanation for the delay in confirmation of his death until three days after he was among three jihadists hit by a missile in the Yemeni coastal town of Mukalla. Officials told the newspaper that the drone had conducted a so-called “signature strike” - where a strike is authorised because of “patterns of activity” that suggest al-Qaeda targets are moving on the ground. But the CIA “did not know in advance that al-Qaeda’s leader in Yemen
