Actress bags endorsement deal with land in Abuja

Nollywood Actress and mother of one,  Tonto Dikeh , has been announced an ambassador to the Nigeria Unity Museum and Trade Tourism Village. According to a statement, Tonto joins the list of NUMATVILLE Megacity ambassadors that have been unveiled to the public in Abuja, Nigeria. On Friday, April 29th 2016,  Tonto Dikeh-Churchill , was announced the ambassador to the real estate company, after inking the details of the contract. Donald Duke, Kirk Whalum, Sweet Sound band, others perform live at historical musical concert

The long anticipated debut performance of His excellency Donald Duke  took place last night Friday 29 April, 2016 at Eko Hotel and Suites Victoria Island, Lagos. The former Cross River State governor (A skillful saxophonist) and Grammy winner  Kirk Whalum  amongst other fantastic artistes including  Omawumi ,  Yinka Davies ,  Tosin Alao   and Sweet Sound Band  all had their turns on stage and the crowd could not get enough, as they all performed in such high spirit, making the night one to remember for a very long time. Fashion designers such as  Yomi Casual ,  Qeen Aniva Aniva and  Frank Oshodi   showcased some of their collections on the runway. Duke did not only thrill his ecstatic audience by singing and doing some smooth dance moves, the ex-governor went on to play the Saxophone and did so with great dexterity. Merchant ship rescues 26 migrants off Libya, others feared missing

An Italian merchant ship rescued 26 migrants off the coast of Libya in rough seas and others were feared missing, the Coast Guard said on Saturday. The Coast Guard received a call from a satellite telephone on Friday but no voice was heard. It tracked the signal to a location about seven miles off the Libyan coast, a spokesman said. An Italian merchant vessel in the area was diverted and on Friday night rescued the 26 from a rubber boat that had taken on water. The spokesman said such boats used by human traffickers can hold between 100-120 people and are usually full but no information was available on the number that might be missing. The migrants were tranferred onto a Coast Guard ship in international waters and taken to Lampedusa, the island south of Sicily where tens of thousands have arrived in recent years. People with albinism in Malawi are at risk of "systemic extinction" due to relentless attacks fueled by superstitions, the United Nations' top expert on albinism said on Friday on her first official visit in her new role. At least 65 cases of violence against people with albinism including killings and dismemberment have been recorded by police in Malawi since late 2014, said  Ikponwosa Ero , the U.N.'s independent expert on human rights and albinism. People with albinism live in danger in regions of the world where their body parts are valued in witchcraft and can fetch a high price. NYSC To Deploy Doctors, Pharmacists, Others To IDPs Camps – DG

The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) is to deploy medical doctors, nurses, pharmacists and other medical professionals to Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) camps nationwide. The Director General of NYSC, Brig-Gen. Sule Kazaure, made this known Thursday while flagging-off the NYSC intervention programme at Damare IDPs camp in Yola. Kazaure said that the deployment of NYSC to the camps was part of the scheme’s contribution to government’s efforts in assisting the IDPs. "This programme, which is designed to bring succour to the inmates in this centre, is also intended to compliment government’s efforts towards provision of the welfare needs of members of IDPs nationwide. "The scheme, therefore, will deploy the services of corps professionals such as medical doctors, nurses, pharmacist, etc to the centre to assist Federal Government in the provision of medical and other sundry needs of the IDPs.
