DEPRAVED reporter who became an al-Qaeda terrorist has been executed by a firing squad after being convicted of murdering five journalists.

Hassan Hanafi was tied to a wooden post in a Somalian police academy before being shot.

The former radio presenter was sentenced to death in March after being arrested and extradited from neighbouring Kenya last year.

The depraved jihadi joined al-Shabaab, the Somalian branch of al-Qaeda, in 2008 while working as a local journalist.

Between 2007 and 2011 he worked for the abhorrent terror group, identifying journalists they could target.

He also threatened many reporters with death if they refused to join up to the brutal militant organisation.

Hanafi was seriously injured after being promoted to a commander by his deluded terrorist superiors in 2009.

After being sentenced to death he said: “Al-Shabaab killed many journalists but personally I killed only one.

"But I am indifferent if you kill me.
