Foundation remembers Rashidi Yekini

Ibadan Grammar School face Methodist High School  at the Lekan Salami Stadium in Ibadan on Wednesday in remembrance  of the late Nigeria striker Rashidi Yekini.

Lawyer  for the late footballer, Jibril Mohamed, said the match  would also be played to identify with the grassroots football development dreams of Yekini and to encourage young players.
He said, “Yekini  was a  nobody when he started  and he rose to the stardom with  the help of God. When he started, he had no kit to play and that is why we are using this year’s memorial anniversary to support the young talents at  both schools.”
Mohammed said Ibadan Grammar School produced players like Taiwo Ogunjobi, Zion Ogunfeyimi and  Bella Momoh while Methodist High School produced the likes of Raymond King and Ojokojo Torunarigha
He said, “This are two great schools that had contributed immensely to the development of football in Nigeria. They are still known for strong youth football passion.
“We need to rekindle the passion and Yekini Foundation would be celebrating with these new talents in football. Perhaps through this effort, a new Rashidi Yekini will be discovered.”
