Madagascar hunts for 37 inmates after Prison break

Security agencies in Madagascar are on the hunt for at least 37 inmates who fled after a prison break in the south-western regional capital of Toliara

Six of the inmates were arrested few hours after they staged the daring escape, during a work boycott by the prison staff, which started last week.

The Malagasy prisons workers' union reiterated in Anta-nana-rivo their determination to continue with the strike until the government addresses their concerns, which include a demand for higher salaries and improved working conditions.

The last prison break in Madagascar happened in 2009.
